Frequently Asked Questions

Information about Tanzania, its climate, vaccines, flights and visas:

Why Tanzania?

Tanzania is a safari destination without peer. The statistics speak for themselves: a quarter of its surface has been reserved for conservation purposes, hosting 20% of Africa’s Wildlife population. A land whose staggering natural variety is complemented by the innate hospitality of its people, reflected in a cultural variety of over 120 different tribes.

When is the best time to visit?

All year. Tanzania’s climate is basically tropical. The coastal areas are usually hot and humid, but on the beaches the ocean breeze cools the atmosphere considerably. The average temperature is 30 ° C. Tanzania has two rainy seasons. The long rains occur between March and June and the short rains between November and January. The hottest season is between December and March, just before the long rains season. The coolest months are June, July and August, when the skies are usually covered. In mountainous areas, such as Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley temperatures can fall sharply, even producing frost.

Which is the best airport to land?

Kilimanjaro International Airport is just 50 km from the ranch, making it the best choice. In addition, most airlines offer arrivals to Kilimanjaro and returns from Zanzibar. Our preferred airline is Qatar Airways, among others, which operate similar routes to East Africa, as KLM, Turkish Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, British Airways and Egypt Air.

Where the tourist visa is achieved?

It is no need to apply for tourist visa in advance. It gets issued at the airport upon arrival when passing customs. You must make a payment of 50 American dollars to entry, the stamp affixed will be valid for three months. It is very important that the passport is valid for a period exceeding six months and to have enough pages to be stamped each time at the border crossing during international travels.

What vaccinations are needed?

Tanzania has a tropical climate, where fauna, flora and bacteria are different from those that are used most visitors. Therefore it is advisable to take precautions before traveling, to guarantee a smooth trip.

Malaria is usually the main concern, so be prevented with specific prophylactic to be protected. The yellow fever vaccine is mandatory. There are other vaccines to consider such as typhoid, cholera, tetanus, etc., although not mandatory to enter the country. We recommend visiting your doctor early enough to get adequately informed.
